Situation
In a major infrastructure programme, approximately 21,000 affected authorities, landowners and operators intersected with four external companies and around 60 people. Construction, environment, archaeology, UXO, compensation and objections had to work as one system.
My role & responsibility
I led the stakeholder and land-management workstream as a sub-project lead. My responsibility was operational control, with complete transparency that I was not the overall Managing Director of the programme.
My actions
I created one way of working so that different companies and professional cultures could cooperate dependably.
- I clarified roles, handovers and escalation paths.
- I established a fixed decision and reporting cadence.
- I set up compensation and objection processes.
- I connected technical interfaces with understandable stakeholder communication.
- I exposed conflicts early and moved them to decision.
Results
I established operating control across a very large participant environment and contributed, through structured collaboration, to securing relevant planning approvals.
